A wellness vacation can take many forms from fitness travel to adventure travel to weight loss and detox to delicious culinary vacations.  After all, wellness vacations are all about renewing yourself.  You know, doing something different than the norm to improve your overall well-being.  And what better, more tasty way, than to do so as a culinary getaway or even if it’s just a getaway to Atlantic City and you are seeking some delicious dining options to explore during your stay.   Read on as Patrick shares with us a few delicious dining choices in Atlantic City.

Atlantic City is one-of-a-kind destination, combining the fun of gaming, the excitement of live big-name stars in performance, and the ever-changing drama of the ocean beach. Not to be overlooked are Atlantic City restaurants, which offer every major chain, and a number of local independent options for good food as well.

American Dining in Atlantic City

In the 1980s, when the Philadelphia restaurant renaissance was a mere notion, The Knife and Fork was still serving a quarter of a head of iceberg lettuce and calling that salad. Today, in addition to the magnificent steaks that have always been their signature, this vintage venue offers more updated accompaniments.

Asian Cuisine in Atlantic City

At the other end of the traditional/exotic spectrum is Melaka Restaurant. This admitted hole in the wall offers the tastes of Southeast Asia and Malaysia; chiefly, with great authenticity. It is not an elegant dining experience, but the casinos have plenty of that – both real and faux.

If you want an upscale Asian dining experience, there is the chain restaurant, P.F.Chang’s. This will have fancier decor, well-trained wait staff, and familiar dishes.

Atlantic City Seafood

Predictably enough, fish and other seafood have a strong showing. Consider local Atlantic City eateries that have a loyal following such as Dock’s Oyster House.

Delectable Italian Cuisine

Given what a strong role Italian-Americans have played in the Philadelphia area, Italian food, also rather predictably, is widely available. Visitors can sample everything from the relatively simple pizza delights of Tony Boloney’s, or Tony’s Baltimore Grill, to the more substantial fare at Angelo’s Fairmount Tavern. For Northern Italian specialties, and a slightly different take on Italian classics, consider Cafe 2825. These places have atmosphere to spare, and attract Atlantic City regulars, folks from the region who live there year ’round, and tourists eager to soak in the beach vibe.

Dining on Water

Some of the best views in the region are available at The Old Waterway Inn. This is located on the romantically named Venice Lagoon, and caters to diners arriving by boat, as well as via more conventional means of transport.

Dining Beyond the City Limits

If you are willing to drive, check out the stuffed portabella mushrooms at Tuckahoe Inn. Just a bit farther is the town of Somer’s Point. This burg boasts the Crab Trap and Charlie’s. For tourists unfamiliar with the Jersey Shore over the past decades, heading beyond the city limits provides a chance to see what this area was like before casinos began to dominate the landscape and skyline.

Good Bar Treats

For lively bars with good food, look into the Back Bay Ale House and the Irish Pub.

Casino Dining in Atlantic City

The casino’s chains have brought a plethora of reliable fooderies to the roster of Atlantic City restaurants.  For example, Azure by Allegreti is a tasty Revel Casino addition to town.

Whether your Atlantic City trip takes you to the Trump Taj Mahal, Harrah’s Resort & Casino or the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, one thing is for sure… you won’t go hungry.  We would welcome your comments on your favorite places to eat while in Atlantic City.  Please share with us in the comment section below.
