Presidential Inauguration 2013: Congress Launches Website

Update 1/14/2013: Be a VIP At The Obama Inaugural Ceremony 2013

Just a few short days ago, Congress launched the official website for the 57th Presidential Inauguration 2013 set to take place on the west side of the Capitol on Monday, January 21, 2013.  And for the very 1st time, a FaceBook page will be launched providing up to date details on the Presidential Inauguration 2013 events and activities.  More details to follow…

Before anyone comments on the date attempting to make any corrections.  It is understood the President, according to law, must take his Oath of office before Noon on January 20th.  Due to the fact January 20th falls on a Sunday, only a private ceremony will take place and the public ceremony will follow on Monday, January 21, 2013.

While many of you are anxious to make your travel plans, it is important to note the Inaugural Committee is not formed until the election has taken place.  Hence, specific details of the Inaugural events, activities and galas will not be made available until just weeks before they actually take place.  To gain an idea of the schedule, click to read about the 2009 Presidential Inauguration.  Keep in mind, there will be events and galas leading up to the Inauguration for one to attend as well.

Inauguration Day Events

To familiarize yourself with the standard events that will take place on Inauguration Day, please reference the official websites Inauguration Day Events page.

  • Morning Worship Service
  • Procession to the Capitol
  • Vice-President’s Swearing in Ceremony
  • President’s Swearing in Ceremony
  • President’s Inaugural Address
  • Departure of the out-going President
  • Inaugural Luncheon
  • Inaugural Parade
  • Inaugural Ball

Please note, tickets are not required to attend the parade.  Do not become victim to any scams.  The Inaugural 10-day period is officially January 15 – 24, 2013 and our blessed armed forces are largely responsible for providing support in this area.

With regard to the galas, it pays to be on a list.  There will typically be around a dozen or so galas taking place for one to attend.  We will make sure to announce details as we receive them.

Getting There, Staying There and What To See

Even though the Inaugural events and galas will not be announced until after the election, it is highly advised to book your transportation to/fro; secure any subway passes, if any; and your hotel as far ahead as possible.  DC is a small area and hotels will fill up faster than you can blink an eye.  Do not miss out.  At the same time, DC is not the city for newcomers to “choose” to stay just anywhere because it is “cheap”.  It has its beauty, but as any city, it also has its downfalls.  Safety first at all times.

For those heading to DC for the entire weekend, Abundant Journeys is ready to assist you with activities, hotel bookings, motor coach rentals, flights and more.  Our Publisher and Editor in Chief attended American University in Washington, DC and has intimate knowledge of the city.

To plan your trip to the Presidential Inauguration 2013, please complete this Getting Started form today (once on page, scroll down a little).  We are already putting together groups in preparation for this historical day. Don’t delay.  Get started today!

Great share, I wish I could be there in person, I will have to watch the live coverage online this year. For traditional Presidential Inauguration live coverage without all the fancy social networking features, C-SPAN Live Video provides a no-frills broadcast of the Inauguration Ceremony and the parade that follows, with closed captioning available. C-SPAN’s online live video coverage of the inauguration begins Monday at 7 a.m. EST.

Meanwhile, several streaming online news sites will enhance their coverage with punditry, analysis, and interactive features. NBCNews.com will begin streaming the inauguration live beginning at 10 a.m. EST on Monday, and will feature a 180-degree panoramic view of the ceremony. CBSNews.com will also livestream the inauguration with coverage beginning at 10 a.m. EST, and will provide options to switch to other live video coverage of related inauguration events in Washington, D.C. later in the day. Additionally, FOX News will stream the inauguration and the inaugural address for free.
